Samsung has consistently launched its Galaxy S Ultra models with four rear cameras since 2021, featuring two telephoto units – a 3x telephoto and a 10x periscope telephoto unit. However, according to credible tipster Ice universe, the Galaxy S24 Ultra may see a change in its telephoto cameras next year.
The tipster suggests that Samsung has removed the 3x telephoto from the Galaxy S24 Ultra and “merged” it into the periscope telephoto. While Ice universe doesn’t provide further details, another source claims that Samsung has dropped the 3x telephoto unit from the Galaxy S24 Ultra and added a variable folded telephoto with a 3x to 10x zoom range.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra
In December of last year, Ice universe mentioned that Samsung would replace the telephoto sensor on the Galaxy S24 Ultra with a “new solution.” This 3-10x variable folded telephoto could be the innovative solution the company has in mind.
Although this information comes from multiple sources, it’s advisable to take it with a grain of salt and await more evidence confirming Samsung’s decision to remove the 3x telephoto camera from the Galaxy S24 Ultra. With more than six months left until the device’s unveiling, plans could change in the meantime.
